Reception Blog - 14.03.2025

14th March 2025

We had a great fortnight in Reception!  Last week, we enjoyed learning all about Pancake Day.  We found out why and how the day is celebrated, and we held our own pancake races.  We had great fun flipping our Pancakes in the air!  Later in the week, we celebrated World Book Day by reenacting the classic story, ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’ in our Forest School session.  Later in the day, we had a lovely time reading to each other and to our cuddly toys in the Millennium Garden.

This week, we became scientists and engineers.  We have been exploring the Science Week 2025 theme of ‘Change and Adapt’ in our classroom activities.  We used sticks and pegs to build bridges and also explored building bridges using paper.  We had to adapt our designs many times to make our bridges stringer and ended up with some great designs!  We explored the life cycle of a butterfly, and we investigated whether changing how we jump could affect how far we jump.  What a fun fortnight we have had!  Well done, Reception Class.
