7th February 2025
It has been an exciting and productive fortnight in Year 2.
In English, we have finished our next topic based on the story ‘Stardust’. Throughout this unit we have taken inspiration from the book to rewrite it. This has helped us to write our very own narrative story based around sibling rivalry and jealousy! The stories that we have written are fantastic!
A real highlight of the past two weeks was our visit from Safety Seymour, who delivered an engaging and informative workshop on carbon monoxide awareness. We had a brilliant time while learning about this important safety topic, we even got to take our very own carbon monoxide alarms home!
In maths, we've wrapped up our topic of fractions and have moved onto our next! It is all about adding and subtracting two digit numbers by using the ‘regrouping and adjusting’ method. We have been developing our understanding of this topic by using tens frames, cubes and bar models to support our learning!
We have also finished our History topic all about significant individuals! We have learnt so much about a few monarchs from the past! Our favourite has been King Henry VIII!
In our Science lessons we have been exploring life cycles. We have looked at the life cycle of butterflies, frogs and humans! We have found this topic very fascinating! And we cannot wait to learn more about it next half term!
It has been a fantastic fortnight of learning, and we look forward to what’s next!
