This week in Year 2, we have had an exciting and busy time with lots of learning! In our writing lessons we’ve continued working on our instruction writing and have been learning how to write clear, step-by-step instructions. We even gave Miss Wall instructions on how to make a jam sandwich! It got very messy, but we learnt just how specific we need to be when writing instructions. We’re focusing on writing instructions for how to make a bird feeder. It’s been a fun activity, and we have really enjoyed putting our ideas into writing!
In Maths, we have been exploring shapes and learning about right angles. We’ve been looking at different 2D and 3D shapes, identifying their properties, and finding right angles in everyday objects. The children have been doing a great job with this and are starting to understand how angles are important in the world around us.
This week has also been Science Week, and we’ve been busy learning all about having a balanced diet. The children have learned about the different food groups and why it’s important to eat a variety of foods to stay healthy. To tie into our science learning, we also created our very own wormery! This hands-on activity has been so much fun, and we’re excited to observe how it changes and adapts over time.
It’s been a wonderful week full of learning, and we can’t wait to see what we will discover next week! Stay tuned for more updates!
