Year 3 have had an exciting couple of weeks, packed with World Book Day, Science Week, and plenty of fantastic learning across our topics!
π Writing
In our writing lessons, we've been exploring the Stone Age, using our knowledge to create adventure stories in our sentence stacking lessons. We're now preparing to write our own stories, and we're excited to take our readers on exciting journeys to faraway places!
β Maths
Our focus has been on multiplication and division, where we've explored different strategies to help us solve tricky calculations. We've used known facts to unlock new problems and practised partitioning 2-digit numbers into tens and ones to make calculations easier.
πΏ Science
In science, we've been learning all about plants. The children explored the inside of a tomato, discovering its seeds before planting them. We're now eagerly waiting to see if we can grow our very own tasty tomatoes!
π Curriculum
Our exploration of Europe has been full of discovery! We identified Europe on the world map, located its countries, and shared fascinating facts about its languages, currency, and landmarks. We also explored Europe's climates and how they vary across the continent.
π World Book Day Fun!
World Book Day was a fantastic celebration! After a brilliant assembly with Mrs. Golden, we enjoyed a giant book quiz with six exciting rounds, including:
π Emoji book clues
πΈ Picture rounds
π Finish the book title
π§ββοΈ Complete the line from a traditional tale
It was a close competition, and we had so much fun!
We also joined a live BBC lesson for the Big Read, connecting with children across the country. In the afternoon, we enjoyed a book tasting, where the children explored books from a variety of genres β from comedy to non-fiction β and selected their favourites using a special menu.
Itβs been a busy few weeks full of learning, fun, and exploration, and we canβt wait for whatβs next!
