It has been an exciting and productive fortnight in Year 5, with plenty of fantastic learning opportunities and memorable experiences!
In English, we have wrapped up Holes by Louis Sachar, reflecting on its themes and characters before getting ready to dive into our next book, The Fastest Boy in the World by Elizabeth Laird. To prepare, we've been exploring the book's context and setting, building anticipation for what promises to be an inspiring read.
Our writing focus has been poetry, taking inspiration from Malfeasance by Alan Bold. Pupils have experimented with powerful language and imagery, crafting their own creative and thought-provoking verses.
A real highlight of the past two weeks was our visit from Bonanza Creative, who delivered an engaging and informative workshop on carbon monoxide awareness. The pupils had a brilliant time while learning about this important safety topic.
In maths, we've been developing our understanding of angles, sharpening our skills in measuring and identifying different types. Next up, we'll be tackling percentages – a key skill that will help us in real-life problem-solving!
Outside the classroom, Year 5 had an unforgettable trip to Windsor High School, where we watched a fantastic performance of Disco Inferno. The show was a brilliant experience, and it was wonderful to see older students showcasing their talents on stage.
It has been a fantastic fortnight of learning, and we look forward to what’s next!
