Curriculum and Learning
At Tenterfields Primary Academy, we believe that lifelong learning is based on strong foundations in a child’s early years. Our aim is to ensure that the children in our Early Years Foundation Stage classes, (EYFS), have the strongest start to their education through a language rich curriculum rooted in nurture, curiosity, challenge and support. Our curriculum plan has been devised and developed over time, with the aid of our EYFS specialists and curriculum subject specialists to ensure that it is rich and irresistible to the children in the EYFS.
In Nursery and Reception, we are dedicated to providing every child with a well-rounded and stimulating education that supports their growth and development. Our approach is designed to balance both child-led and adult-led activities, ensuring children are engaged, curious, and progressing at their own pace.

Our Reception environment mirrors this with a gradually increasing emphasis on learning being led by teachers in order to develop specific key learning as identified by the Early Learning Goals, (ELGs), that most children are expected to achieve by the end of EYFS. This approach also ensures a smooth transition into Year 1.
As part of Tenterfields Primary Academy, our EYFS pupils also benefit from the school’s fantastic facilities and take part in special events and rewards like Praise Assembly and Hot Chocolate Fridays with the Headteacher.
